Notes:

1. All matches must be live, clocked and continuous or pre-designated.

2. Match lengths of 7 points and above are acceptable.

3. A submission containing 25% or less 5-point matches is also acceptable (measured in EP).

4. EP = Experience points = sum of match lengths played (e.g., an 11 point match = 11 EP).

5. The Fast-Track option, may be adopted by National BMS Tournament Directors/Promoters.

6. The Fast-Track option, where implemented, only applies to player’s first BMS tournaments.

7. EPs within 5% of required target values shall be deemed to have met the requirements.

Measuring Average PR for Grading Purposes

It can be seen from the Gradings StructureTable that the maximum requirement for experience for any grade is 300 experience points. Ideally, before 300 experience points is reached, the average PR should be based on the total experience points played. After 300 experience points is reached however, the average PR over only the previous 300 experience points is considered (the 300 EP rolling average PR). This allows the possibility for re-grading of titles, after each tournament is played.

At certain times, players will prefer to restart their submissions from scratch (zero EP) rather than carrying on playing holding what they perceive to be undesirable results in their total experience. Although ideally this is undesirable, such scratches may be allowed in the following circumstances:

  • Where the player has lost a match based on clock failure and the average PR for the tournament is deemed by BMAB to be significant worse than would have been the case without the clock failure, then the player should be allowed to restart from scratch, but only once in any 12 month period.
  • Players who reach the full grading (or hold the provision grading) of G3 or higher should not be allowed to restart. (Except in case “1”)
  • Players who reach the full grading (or hold the provisional grading) of M3 to M1, or A3 to A1E, should only be allowed one subsequent restart in any 12 month period. (In addition to case “1”)
  • Players who obtain full grading of I1 or lower should only be allowed two restarts in any 12 month period. (In addition to case “1”)
  • Players who hold a provisional grading shall not be able to restart until the provisional status has been removed, or 12 months have passed since the provisional rating was obtained.

The above requirements assume BMAB Tournament play where average PRs and gradings are only reviewed after each tournament is played. For individual applications, where the experience points exceeds 100 EP, average PRs and gradings should only be reviewed at 50 EP incremental stages consistent with Grading Structure Table.
